Once a devout conservative...

I was a proud, devout conservative for 40 years of my life. I voted for Bush twice. I never voted for Obama. I spent 8 years writing conservative columns for a newspaper. I planned to vote for Trump over Hillary. But when the Billy Bush recording surfaced I decided to show an ounce of class and not vote for either candidate. When Trump won I was defensive of him for 4 years. I liked that he didn’t “put up with any crap with the media.” He might not be perfect but he was getting things done, etc. All the usual stuff. My feelings changed on January 6th. This is when I saw the true colors of (the vast majority of) conservatives. I realized for the first time that these wacky liberals I’ve complained about my whole life are now the reasonable ones. And (the vast majority of) conservatives simply don’t stand for anything.

If you keep up with the news and consider yourself a well-informed person and you’re okay with what Trump did on January 6th, there is something fundamentally wrong with you. And you showed your cards on Election Day. We had an intelligent, well-educated candidate. But she happened to be an African American female. People called her a socialist and a commie. All the standard Fox News garbage. And suddenly, not only the Trump Trash who raided the Capitol but (who I thought were) reasonable people began to overlook January 6th. They claimed to be worried about what she would do to the economy. But they weren’t worried about the economy. They were worried about the black lady.

Now, we see Trump doing all his side hustles which no other president has ever done in the history of our country. He's playing Mob Boss by using the Justice Department to go after his enemies which no other president on this level has ever done. The evil but quasi-intelligent people around him work their scheme that, for the most part, works pretty well: do as many crazy things in a day to where the news can’t cover it all.

Trump is a pig. He is a a rapist, a racist, a bigot, a liar, and a cheater. If you voted for him in 2024 and now claim not to be a Trump fan, reasonable people see right through you. I will sadly be deeply ashamed to be an American on our 250th anniversary.
