ACT college entrance exam undergoes significant changes

The ACT college entrance exam is undergoing significant changes to better reflect students' skills and readiness for college. Starting in 2025, the test will include new sections on data literacy and digital media literacy, alongside traditional subjects like math and reading. These updates aim to align the test with the evolving demands of higher education and the modern job market. The ACT organization believes these changes will help universities better assess applicants' abilities and prepare students for success in a technology-driven world.

The updated ACT will also feature a shorter testing time, reducing the overall length by 30 minutes. This change is intended to reduce test fatigue and make the exam more accessible to all students. Additionally, the scoring system will be adjusted to place greater emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These modifications are part of a broader effort to ensure standardized tests remain relevant and useful tools in the college admissions process.
