Google's DeepMind system proves its superiority in weather forecasting

DeepMind's GraphCast system has proven its superiority in weather forecasting, outpacing traditional models by offering faster and more accurate predictions. The AI tool delivers medium-range forecasts, like predicting heatwaves or hurricanes, in under a minute. It uses a fraction of the computing power needed by older systems, making it an efficient alternative for predicting extreme weather events.

For instance, GraphCast correctly predicted Hurricane Lee's trajectory nine days ahead of its landfall in Nova Scotia. Its AI system also detects dangerous weather conditions without specific training, enhancing its overall prediction capabilities.
